Transcript of the interview with @Bannana_libertarian

 Transcript of interview with @thebannanalibertarian

How did you get involved in the libertarian movement?

Very slowly. I used to be a socially conservative and economically leftist moderate, and I think I slowly became a libertarian once I started realizing how useless the government really is. Eventually I started watching the Uncommon Knowledge interviews with Milton Friedman and Thomas Sowell, and the rest is history.

what made you want to start Bannana Libertarian

I initially started the_banana_libertarian under the username nexuspolitics. I then realized nexus could be construed to mean marxist intersectionality, which is not something I wanted to promote so I changed it. The issue that compelled me to initially start the page was the US Libertarians lack of voting policy, outside of supporting ranked choice voting.

When did you first become intrested in politics/philosiphy.

6th grade-ish. I was a big geography nerd, then I realized you can't really understand geography/History without politics.

whats your favourite conspiracy theory

Birds Aren't Real. I know it's a meme but I have no reason to engage with all the others for various reasons.

I have no reason to engage with QAnon because I dislike most of our leaders in DC already.

I don't get involved with the vaccine debate since my university requires me to be vaxxed just to attend as is.

I believe climate change exists but I dislike pretty much all of the solutions the modern environmentalist movement offers.

The rest are pretty irrelevant to begin with it.

what system would you replace statism with?

Minarchism.

do you define yourself as an anarchist?

Christian anarchist, yes. I agree with most things Jacquee Ellul had to say. I also see anarchism as a long term ideal instead of something a hypothetical Libertarian leader should immediately revert too.

[23:05]

do you think free speech is under threat in the west?

Yes but I can really only speak for U.S. since I live there. The TikTok ban and Anti Semitism Awareness Act are prime examples of it. I could say a lot about both pieces of legislation but to summarize they were created by people who know how to fill a stadium with supporters but know nothing about and have no regard for the rights of those people. DC only knows how to spew charismatic nonsense to win people over snd give themselves more power

opinions on 2A/The right to bear arms?

Should be expanded to include recreational canons.

do you think the 2020 election was rigged?

No, I'm not convinced of voter suppression or claims that ballot counters were throwing ballots in rivers. Both stories seem a little to convenient for those who espouse them.

do you think there will be a false flagging scenario in the future?

To be honest there are many things America's leaders have done and said which make me think there have already been multiple.

opinions on brexit? (for the british audience)

I think countries should be able to leave and join the EU as they please. However I think it should be at the discretionof the home nations individually instead of the UK as a whole.

who would you say mainly views your content?

Libertarians, I get a lot of views on my story from people in countries that don't really have any big libertarian movements, primarily India. However most people who look at my stuff are American.

what activities did you partake in for the Libertarian Party Of illinois?

I assume you mean LP Washington, which is where I'm from. Light volunteering, I plan on leaving WA soon. Political parties are hiveminds so I never try to get too close to one or another. The last thing I want to do is exist in an echo chamber.

opinions on trump/The trump trial?

Trump should be treated like any other criminal.

realmuammargaddafi 🇺🇸 — 18/06/2024 23:08

would you support the british reform parties idea of a british bill of rights? (for british audience)

I can't find too much information on it. From what I can find it sounds like they're trying to expand civil liberties and government simultaneously which seems like a contradiction.

when did you start this week international?

Late 2020

When did you start @bannana Libertarian

Around 1 year ago

what topics do you cover in this week international

This was before I became a libertarian, but it was primarily about politics outside of the US.

opinions on the border crisis/ british refugee crisis

Im anti handout and anti deportation. Deportations and handouts are both funded off taxation so I would go the non-interventionist route and say do nothing with the refugees. Let them engage with the free market the same way as everybody else. This “crisis” also feels like a false flag created in order to steal (raise taxes).

opinions on Isreal/Palestine and the ukraine war

We need to stop sending so much money to everybody.

Which social medias are you active on?
